Testing Myself...

The other day I went out to the beach with one of the most IMPOSSIBLE friends that I know to photograph. Now, I say impossible because she does not take direction very well. I also went out at 2:00pm when the lighting was horrible to see what I could get out of this experience, how I could manipulate things to make some incredible images. Here's a few of my favorites from the shoot.

So, needless to say, I am pretty happy of the outcome and along with that came more self confidence in directing my subjects and paying attention to the light in my images.

Tomorrow I start my commercial studio class! Let's see where this takes me. Ta ta for now.

Best Friend

Happy October 1st. It's strange to think another month has already passed. My school vacation is almost over and I will be heading back to school with a whopping schedule of 2 classes including environmental science and commercial photography. This isn't what I came to write in my blog at all though. Back to the point! I took pictures of my best friend Britt yesterday. She is awesome. We walked through fields of prickets just to get these pictures but I am very happy with the way things turned out. Here's some images from the shoot.

And one more just for fun.

It was good to get out of work after the clouds broke and the sun peeped out for a little. I've got a series of photoshoots lined up now, some in town and some in Boston. Should be good! Fairwell for now. Until next time....

Apple Picking!

It's already that time of the year again. Although, I'm not quite sure where summer went. Considering my hectic schedule with work and night classes though I should have figured it would be this way. Nonetheless, it's time for apple picking and that's exactly what my family did the other day. I can't even begin to tell you how much fun it was. I haven't been apple picking for a long time and I don't think I'll skip a year of apple picking in the future. Here's a few pictures of the sisters apple picking.

I just love this photo. She was actually calm and sitting still. I couldn't believe it. Her face is beautiful.

I have a bunch of other photos from the shoot on my flickr so that's just the overview. I also took a roll of black and white film. Getting back to the basics was a good break and made me appreciate so much more how cameras have developed over the years. I'll be scanning in some of the photos later this week to share. Until then... goodbye!

Photoshoot with Trevan

Well, classes are coming to an end. I have my Literature, Digital Production Techniques and Studio Photography finals next week. Overall it's been a great term full of new information. I never knew how much I would love being in the studio but it's amazing. Anyways, here are a few pictures from my last studio class. Trevan was a great model and really easy going. He is a football player and wrestler at a high school in Sanford, Maine.

I have enjoyed every single second of this class. The best part about it is, I can see how far my photography has come since the beginning of my journey and I'm really excited to see how far I go and how much I learn and adapt to new styles and techniques in the future.

First Blog!

So, I thought I would give this blogging a try. We'll see how well I keep up with it!

Today I had a photoshoot with Zach Sarette (www.zachsarette.com). He is a wedding photographer from Manchester, NH. He's a super cool guy, really easy going and takes great quality images from what I can see on his website. Here's a few pictures from the session.

Zach also took a picture of Alex (my boyfriend/trusty photoshoot helper) and myself once we finished the shoot.

Overall, it's been a great day. Went and visited my family after the session and then went back home to relax and watch House. We'll see what the rest of the evening has in store for me. Well, back to work tomorrow so I'm going to get going for now. Will write again soon.
